Recently, we were delighted to support the staff at St. James’s Hospital in Dublin by sponsoring a heavy-duty bicycle pump for their cycle hub. By doing this, HSSCU aims to promote sustainable and active travel among the staff. We are proud to be involved in encouraging active travel at the hospital. Here is what Barry McKenna, Sustainability Manager, St. James’s Hospital, had to say about the support;
“Having a bike pump available at the Cycling Hub in St. James’s Hospital will be a very valuable addition for cyclists. The convenience of having it nearby, coupled with the support from HSSCU, enhances the overall experience for cyclists and promotes a healthier and more sustainable commute.
It’s wonderful to have the credit union investing in initiatives like this. With a branch just around the corner it’s very convenient for staff here.”
Sustainability At HSSCU
As a credit union, HSSCU prides itself on meeting the diverse needs of our members. By providing support like this, we can help both members and non-members make decisions that have a positive impact on many levels. Speaking at the presentation of the pump Luke Casey, HSSCU Marketing Manager said;
“Much like the credit union, this pump will be there for people when they need it. We’re continually looking for ways to engage with the community we serve. The cycle hub is a great addition, and we wanted to play our part in helping people choose cycling for their commute.
We are involved in a number of initiatives, including planting 1,000 trees and installing beehives on our roof. There are more ways we can have a positive environmental impact, and we continue to explore them.”
Since making this presentation, we have been in contact with another hospital. We are currently exploring how we can support their staff in a similar way.
