HSSCU Strengthens Commitment to Accessibility with Website Audit

At HSSCU, we are dedicated to ensuring our website is accessible to all users. To support this commitment, we recently conducted a comprehensive website accessibility audit.

HSSCU is proud to be among the first credit unions in Ireland to undertake this process, partnering with Vially, industry leaders in accessibility who have collaborated with many household names.

We chose to share this milestone today, December 3rd, in recognition of International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024, a day that underscores the importance of inclusivity and accessibility.

Audit Results and Achievements

Following the initial audit, we implemented several of Vially’s recommendations to enhance our website. In a follow-up review, HSSCU achieved a partially compliant ranking, placing us on par with many organizations in similar sectors.

While this is a positive result, it also highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to further improve. Notably, HSSCU is the first credit union in Ireland to collaborate with Vially for such an assessment.

A Message from Alan Duff, Business Development Manager

“A key principle of HSSCU is financial inclusion for our members, and this includes ensuring easy access to information and services. Our website plays a critical role in this. This audit is part of our ongoing service improvement efforts.

Having an accurate assessment of our website’s accessibility was essential, and while achieving a partially compliant ranking is encouraging, we are committed to continuous improvement. We will continue to enhance accessibility and inclusivity, reflecting our values of open and inclusive membership.”

Moving Forward

This audit has been an invaluable process, helping us identify strengths and areas for improvement. As we move forward, we remain committed to making our website more inclusive and accessible for all users, ensuring it aligns with our mission to serve a diverse membership.
