HSSCU Planting Trees

Since we launched our tree planting initiative for members who have opened Current Accounts with HSSCU, we have committed to planting over 600 trees! We’re delighted to be able to do this through our members choosing our Current Account. Our partners in Cloudforest.ie will be undertaking the planting process at a stunning location.

Recently our partners announced the location of their newest forest site, Cloudforest 5. This site is in Mountoven, Camp, Co. Kerry on the fabulous Dingle Peninsula. The site is over fourteen acres sweeping down to the Atlantic Ocean and boasts fantastic panoramic sea views across to Banna Strand and Fenit. Working with our partners we have been allocated a section of this site for the HSSCU’s wood.

This wood will grow as our current account numbers grow and will have a very positive environmental impact. Another factor of this is that each of these locations assist biodiversity through the creation of habitats. Luke our Marketing Manager recent visited our partner’s first forest near Lahinch, Co. Clare which provided a brilliant first-hand look at ow things will develop. It was wet and wild in the West of Ireland that day but it’s something you need to expect any time of year. You can take a look at this site in the short video of the visit below.

Next Stages

Even through the rain, which was more than a summer shower, it was clear to see the growth of the trees and habitats across the entire site, in a relatively short period of time. There is also the early stages of establishing beehives on this site which will provide a prosperous habitat for native bees. Later this year we will be on site along the Dingle Peninsula getting involved tree planting process on behalf of our members. An exciting time as the trees are planted and our HSSCU woods starts to take shape on this stunning site.
