Volunteer With HSSCU

HSSCU is built upon the efforts of volunteers, who give freely of their time and skills to their credit unions in the spirit of cooperation.

Part Of Why We Are Different

We have a team of volunteers in HSSCU which enables us to function proactively and positively for the communities we serve. As your credit union continues to grow and develop new volunteer opportunities arise. HSSCU has opportunities to volunteer in a variety of areas and at a number of levels from committees to the Board of Directors.

We do welcome all expressions of interest from our members, these will be passed on to our Nominations Committee. There is something for everyone interested in volunteering with their credit union.

How Do I Volunteer?

HSSCU has developed a straightforward application process for volunteering.

  1. To express your interest, please complete the form below for HSSCU’s Director Mentor Programme.
  2. A member of our Nominations Committee will contact you to arrange the next step in the process.

Remember – You don’t need to be a financial expert to volunteer. Volunteers assist with the running of many committees, adding their skills, knowledge, and experience, contributing to better governance and decision making.

From time to time we look for volunteers with specific experience. At present HSSCU is looking for people with experience in IT and Governance but applications are open beyond these skillsets.

Volunteering Is Mutually Beneficial & Rewarding

Volunteering is good for both the volunteer and HSSCU. We provide training and support to introduce and guide them in their new role.

When you volunteer, you can develop both personally and professionally:

  • Play a role in one of Ireland’s leading credit unions
  • Learn new skills, practice your professional skills and increase your employability
  • Work on developmental and business projects
  • A sense of achievement
  • Meet new people, have a sense of belonging
  • Give something back to the community

We look forward to hearing from you in the future and welcoming new volunteers onboard. All volunteers are subject to the normal fitness and probity regimes for credit unions as outlined by the Central Bank of Ireland.

Members can also request a paper volunteer application for by email info@hsscu.ie with the subject line Volunteer Expression Of Interest.
